Hi, We have a website and use word press, I personaly edit the site and do the changes etc, but the site wasn’t built by me, We have an address box in the top right hand corner of the website…which shows the address of the company, telephone number and the e-mail address. I want to edit this box but I have no idea where on the dashboard it’s located, I have really searched but can’t seem to find anywhere that edits it.

I would be grateful of anyones help…please don’t talk jargon to me, I’m reasonably computer literate but I need the answer as plain english as possible please…Thank you

  • Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of assistance.

Ok the address box is on every page, you can see it here on the home page.

    Thank you

Looks like it is being added via a Text widget in your sidebar. Try looking in Appearance -> Widgets.

Forgive me… I can’t see anything on the dashboard that says Appearance?

You won’t see it as a menu item if you do not have full admin access on the site.

I believe we do have full admin accesss to the site? …. Or is that a prvaledge that our host has?

If you do not see the Appearance, Plugins and Settings menu items, then you do not have full admin access – probably only Editor access. And at least one person – not your hosts – should have full access.

Thanks for all your help, I wish I had been involved in the set up of our website, too many people involved… a so called web designer which appears to have left us scratching our heads on matters such as this … As far as I knew once he ‘designed’ it we were left with full access through wordpress dashboard to edit anything we wanted?

So nobody has full admin access to the site? How comfortable are you with editing your database via Phpmyadmin?

I don’t know what Phpmyadmin is?
A web designer called Simon Le Geyt… designed our site, and it’s hosted by Eco Hostings? We were given access to edit via wordpress and that’s all I know.

I wasn’t working here when they decided on this, but I was involved from a distance and I wanted to use someone else. I wish I had. But I am going to contact the Simon Le Geyt and ask him who has full admin access?

I think that is your best of course of action unless you want to try hiring someone else instead.

Thank you again. I’ll do just that.

Just to ask one more question, We would like to change our user name KEmmott but weve never been able to do that either… do you think this is why? (because we don’t have full admin access?)

Yes. Although you can re-register on your sit as a subscriber, only an admin has the ability to upgrade you to anything above that basic role.
