Addons for Wine Club?

  • Hi everyone,

    I thought I would see if you all might have any suggestions for something very specific we are trying to do using woocommerce:

    We are opening a wine bar that will have a monthly/quarterly wine membership component in addition to the option to purchase individual bottles online.

    I know there is a membership and subscriptions plugin which would be fine if we had a set recurring price that will be going out, but since we have customers that will want to choose between All Reds, All Whites and Mixed, AND those wines will change every shipment, that will not work for what we want.

    So does anyone know of a plugin/combo of plugins that would work for a wine club membership which would be based on the wines that would be shipping out on a monthly/quarterly basis instead of a set price/configuration?

    Hi Jordan,

    Interesting case study. Since you want recurring payments, you’ll definitely need to start with the Subscriptions plugin – as that will safe you a lot of work.

    Since these orders/subs are probably going to be manually fulfilled, maybe it would be best to just have your subscription members create faux orders once a month with their choices. A mix-n-match type product maybe.

    Each month you could send a reminder email asking them to pick-out their choices – and then have a quick and free checkout process for them. Then when it comes to fulfilling the order, you could look at that customer’s last order and use the wines they chose to use.

    This probably isn’t the best place to ask questions like this though. The forums here should be used for WooCommerce core support. There are a couple of good Facebook groups for questions like this, and you could also submit a ticket to WooThemes asking for guidance on what extensions could get the job done ??

    Already had submitted a ticket, and they mentioned the Mix-n-match plugin as well, but that does not really fit the bill for what we need. The monthly/quarterly memberships will all be the same set of wines for their membership level for that given month/quarter so that we can purchase in correct quantities, have print material that goes out with the shipments that are going with the specific wines (tasting notes) and automatically bill the client which is key for sustaining wine club memberships.

    I just thought given the thousands of wineries out there that someone would have built a plugin or series of plugins that could address this. Would be great for more than wineries as well (all kinds of variable by the month club memberships).

    There are solutions out there like Vin65, but it starts out close to $600 per month for the things we would need, so I don’t mind paying some money up front, but those monthly costs will bleed you.

    If you have a specific facebook group that you think would be good to check out, I appreciate any info.

    The main groups are WooCommerce help and share, and Advanced WooCommerce I know of.
