• Hello –

I am using the additional product information module and I see how it works on a global scale. But what I want to do is make the adjustments on a product specific level. So on the individual product pages I want to add additional product information and have it displayed on the individual page. There is product specific information that doesn’t apply to all products globally.

Can you help direct me on how to accomplish this?

To summarize – a text field titled Additional Product Information and have that information editable on a product level to display for only that one product on the single product page.

    Thanks!

    Matt

  • Hi Matt,

If you mean Booster’s “WooCommerce > Settings > Booster > Products > Product Info” module, you can add more “Info Blocks” ant set “Products to Include/Exclude” for each one. This way you can set info to be displayed only for selected products. However if you want to display info for each product individually this doesn’t seem like a good approach. I could add this new functionality to Booster, this seems quite easy to do, but please confirm that I understood the task correctly. And by the way why products “Short Description” is not good enough?

    Best regards,
    Tom

    Hey Tom –

Thanks for the response. Yes, we want to add additional information on a product specific level instead of adding general information and grouping it to a selected group of products. We have a lot of products with general information and specifications so it would be helpful to break it up into another text area called additional product info because it is less important.

That would be awesome if you could add that capability on a product level. The reason it cant be global or grouped into similar product categories is bc we want to put product specs in this area and the specs are unique to each product.

So is this update going to be possible. I purchased the lifetime membership for updates.

    Thanks so much!

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

I’ve started implementing this today, but I realized that there is already a way in Booster to do what you need with the help of WordPress standard “Custom Fields”. Probably it’s even more “correct”. So what you need to do is:

    1. Open some product’s edit page, find WordPress “Custom Fields” metabox and add new field (if “Custom Fields” metabox is not visible, go to “Screen Options” in upper right corner and enable the “Custom Fields” checkbox – this needs to be done only once, then it will be visible for all products). For example name it “additional_info” and fill it with some product specific content.

    2. Now in Booster’s “WooCommerce > Settings > Booster > Products > Product Info” module add some info block and add Booster’s [wcj_product_custom_field name="additional_info"] shortcode as content.

Now for products which will have this “additional_info” custom field created, this will display the info (which is specific to this product). For those products which don’t have the “additional_info” custom field nothing will be displayed.

Please let me know what you think. Are there any flaws if using this method?

    Best regards,
    Tom
