After the latest theme update, all of the custom CSS that I’ve spent years cultivating is now gone. Is there any way to recover it?

  • Hi @thetechtribune,

    Thanks for reaching us,

Basically, if you have added the CSS code inside the additional CSS box or inside the child theme, the CSS doesn’t get removed. However, if you have changed the CSS inside the direct theme file, the code will be removed after the theme is updated.

So, could you please let me know if the CSS is removed or if the CSS you added earlier is not working on your end? If you have the CSS code, please share it here, and I will make the necessary changes so that it works with the latest version of the theme.

    Regards

The CSS code inside the additional CSS box was removed. I do not change CSS in the direct theme file. What do I do?

I recovered my CSS by querying my WP database for post_type = ‘custom_css’. However, you should still look into why your theme update is erasing the additional CSS section.

    Hi @thetechtribune,

    Thanks for the update,

Upon checking the issue didn’t replicated on my end with additional CSS Code being removed after updating the theme to the latest version. I suspect one of the plugins you’re using might be causing the problem, so please try deactivating all?the plugins one by one and check if the problem is resolved.

Next time you update, make sure to decativate the plugin and check if the additional CSS gets removed or not!

Let me know the updates after doing so and I will get back to you.

    Regards
