I am using geodirectory for restaurants.
I am using the default category for the business type “restaurant, takeaway, pub” etc
But I need another category for “type of food”.

How can I add this ?

    Hi,

    you have two options:

    1 sub-category

    2 custom fields

You could also use tags, but that could be a bit less user-friendly.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

I do not see how to add a sub category.
I have already tried doing it with a custom field, I have added a multi select

Problem is that I do not see how visitors will need able to filter the results by either the category or the custom field.

How do I make it easy too search using these 2 options?

    Hi,

I marked it resolved because I gave you the only 2 possible solutions.

I missed your second reply, which I am replying to now.

1 Sub-categories are created just like normal categories, but selecting the parent category instead of leaving the field unselected (None).

For example, if you have the Restaurant Category as a parent category and then you want to create a Chinese cuisine sub-category when creating it, you need to select the Restaurant Category as Parent Category of the Chinese Cuisine sub-category.

2 for custom fields to be used as search filters, you’ll need the advanced search add-on: https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/advanced-search-add-on/

    Thanks,
