• I don’t find the “Quick Action Bar” usefull, and it really bothers me that it is automatically activated after an update on already published production pages. I would much prefer if it wasn’t forced to be active and I could decide for myself. Now I have to deactivate it manually on every site.

It’s like Spectra is taking over your Gutenberg editor. And the setting to deactivate it is carefully hidden in the already overcrowded and confusing modules section.

And the worst part: even when the “Quick Action Bar” is deactivated it’s shown for a short time. So I think the whole code is loaded and the bar is only hidden with CSS. What a bad behavior. I’m shure you could do it better and more professional.

A second star because Spectra offers a few unique blocks.

    Hi @orlandoo,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the “Quick Action Bar” in Spectra.

My name is Sujay, one of the co-founders of Spectra and we genuinely appreciate your input and value your perspective as a Spectra user.

I’d like to address your concerns and provide some insights into our approach:

    1. We designed the “Quick Action Bar” with the intention of enhancing user efficiency by reducing the number of clicks required to access and utilize blocks. For many users, it has proven to be a valuable tool in streamlining the editing process. However, we understand that it may not suit everyone’s preferences, and we apologize for any inconvenience it has caused you.
    2. I apologize if you found the process of deactivating the “Quick Action Bar” confusing or hidden. We designed it to be easily accessible for users who prefer not to use this feature. Please watch this video: https://d.pr/v/PQ429P In the screencast you will see that the option to deactivate it is conveniently located on each page.
    3. Regarding the behavior of the “Quick Action Bar” when deactivated, you are correct that the CSS for Spectra admin features is currently in a single combined file. We adopted this approach to optimize performance by minimizing the number of HTTP requests. However, your feedback is valuable, and we will explore the possibility of separating these files and loading them conditionally based on feature activation.

We appreciate your constructive criticism, which helps us improve Spectra and better cater to our users’ preferences. If you have any more suggestions or encounter any issues, please feel free to reach out to us.

    Your feedback is valuable.

    Best regards,
    Sujay

    Hello Sujay,

    thank you for your response.

Everyone has their own idea of what they find practical and what they don’t. And that’s perfectly fine. But what I find unacceptable in any case:

    1. that the Quick Action Bar is automatically switched on after an update on production sites. This is an effect that is not expected after an update.
    2. that the code for the Quick Action Bar is loaded when it has been deactivated. The Gutenberg editor is already resource-hungry anyway, so there is no need to add more code whose function is ultimately simply hidden via CSS. I really hope that you find a way to separate these files and load them conditionally based on feature activation.

    Kind regards,
    Roland

Meanwhile I recognized that this Quick Action Bar out of hell is shown when I want to edit widgets, no matter if it is turned off in Spectra settings. Do you have any other ideas in the pipeline on how to ruin this plugin for good?

    Hi @orlandoo

I just wanted to follow up and give you an update: We released an update right after our conversation, which completely turned off the Quick Action Bar on all existing websites.

Additionally, the code for the Quick Action Bar does not load now when it has been deactivated. It is now completely modular.

Thank you for the feedback and helping us improve the plugin. If you have any other suggestions or ideas, please feel free to share them anytime.
