    Hi,

We are a french school and we would have liked to add a shop page on our website. We have an already existing theme which is avada. We have installed woocommerce, and we would like to use storefront, a template to build our store. is that even possible ? I looked it up and it seems there is a plug in to use two themes on the same website, or create a subdomain. Which solution would be the best ? Knowing that we are not professionals. (we built the website though on wordpress using avada.)

Thank you for your time and help !

  • If you really want to use a different theme for the WooCommerce side of the website, I would personally go with a separate install – either in a sub-folder or a subdomain:

Subfolder: my.domain.com/shop – just create a folder on your host and upload a new copy of WordPress into it. Just make sure there isn’t a page or post called Shop in the original site.

Subdomain: shop.mydomain.com – new site on your hosting server.

Sub folder would have the advantage of being, as far as Google is concerned, the same website for SEO purposes.

    Hi @florent1987japon

I would suggest not using two themes at the same time since the Avada theme is already WooCommerce compatible. You can stick with either the Storefront or Avada theme for better performance.

Alternatively, creating a subdomain might be a simpler solution, especially if you’re not professionals in this field. You can install WordPress and WooCommerce on the subdomain and apply the Storefront theme there. This way, your shop will have its own separate area, but it will still be part of your main website.

I hope this clarifies your concern. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

thank you both of you for your answers. It really helped. I’m going to look into both the sub domain and sub folder. Subdomain sounds very interesting.

    Thank you again !
