Adding widgets to Nav Menu

Hi,

I really like the theme, however I was wondering if you could help me modify it a little. For the responsive pages, when the menu and sidebar get hidden for pages below 1200px, I would like to alter the behavior.

Basically, I have removed the sidebar completely, and would simply like the widget area that was displayed in the sidebar to be displayed below the nav menu when the menu is opened.

Could you tell me if this is a simple job? I have tried suggestions by others on including widget areas into the nav menu, but they do not seem to work with the flat theme.
