adding tracking code to header

  • Just getting started with GoogleAnalytics.
    They say to embed a tracking code into every page of your site.
    I heard it should be added to the header of a page, but going to the edit portion of your web site pages, under the button :Appearance, and submenu “Header”, it only discusses the images for a header, not text.

    Q:- how to add text into a header?
