Adding to the homepage only

What is the best way to add it on the homepage, below the header and above the posts?

I have added the shortcode with the surrounding PHP function on the last line of header.php and it worked to be displayed below the header and above the posts, but the problem is that it’s displaying also on other pages and I need it to be displayed only on the homepage.

Is this possible?
