I cannot add tags anymore when I upgraded to WordPress 2.8

ALSO, I noticed the JS are not working like for Quick Edit, etc. Not quite sure though if the JS are the ones to blame.

LASTLY, on my dashboard, some of the boxes are like these:

  • Try deactivating all plugins and check to see if this resolves the problem. If it does, activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

The dashboard boxes look like the standard dashboard boxes to me.

-The dashboard just keep on saying “Loading …” but it actually never loads.

-For the plug-ins, deactivating them didn’t solve the problem.

-Checking out the link. Thanks =)

I’m not using hyperdb. Any other way to re-enable adding tags?

PS: It could be JS or Ajax problem.

I am having tag issues as well.

If I update any post I get a message like this related to tags:

WordPress database error: [Duplicate entry ‘robert-hutton’ for key 2]
    INSERT INTO wp_terms (name,slug,term_group) VALUES (‘Robert Hutton’,’robert-hutton’,’0′)

If I edit any post I have to actually remove all my tags for the post to go through. It does not matter how old the post is or even if I actually do any editing. If I click update post I get the same message and the only solution seems to be to remove all my tags.

    Anyone have similar issues?

    Bill

As far as the issue with tags goes; If you are using this plugin:

DB Cache Version 0.6 | By Dmitry Svarytsevych

I recommend deactivating it. It seems to have helped me here so far. I am still jumpy but so far I have not had the issue I was having though your problem may be different.

The loading and loading issues I am not sure about but I feel for now 2.8 is certainly slower in the editing and admin areas and I have to refresh a lot and clean my browser cache, though I still find it very slow. Not sure what that is all about but your loading issue seems pretty bad.

    bump =)

good Lord – I had no problems with widgets until this upgrade –

From the Release post from WP “If you were ever frustrated with widgets before, this release should be your savior. We’ve completely redesigned the widgets interface (which we didn’t have time to in 2.7) to allow you to do things like edit widgets on the fly, have multiple copies of the same widget, drag and drop widgets between sidebars, and save inactive widgets so you don’t lose all their settings. Developers now have access to a much cleaner and robust API for creating widgets as well.”

    Hell no – I can’t open any widget – can’t change a thing – help.

OMG, it’s working now. What I did was deactivate all the plug-in. I tell you guys, that’s the best thing to do. Then activate them one by one to trace what’s the culprit! Gosh, I should’ve listened to esmi and payed closer attention. lol Thanks!

BTW, Category Icon plug-in is the one giving me the problem.

(It breaks some of the JS in the Dashboard with no fix yet)
