In the last month or so, i’ve noticed that adding any snippet freezes the current tab in Chrome. It keeps loading forever and the tab and website freeze. The snippets seem to be saved ok.

This wasn? the case with this pluggin but lately it happens every time.

I’ve noticed other people in the support forum having exactly the same problem. ??

  • Same here, mate.

A real pain in the arse. Did you find any solution to this?

Use some other plugin from reliable author. If something like this can happen and not get solved for so long, you don’t want this on your website, because next time i could be something more serious.

    Hello everyone,

Sorry for the lack of response. I’ve had a lot to attend to in the past few days which has not left much time to work on maintaining my plugins.

I am currently working on finding a solution. Unfortunately, I’m still unable to reproduce this issue on any site I have access to, which is key to me being able to identify and solve the problem.

No problem. I’m personally not that upset and considering its a free plugin I’m grateful to see continued support.

In regards to what you say, I can reproduce the error every time by using Local by Flywheel to create a new site. With just snippets installed, with a fresh WP install, if I add a new PHP snippet and click activate the entire tab freezes.

I am suffering from the same issue for quite a while. If you would like login detail to my staging site let me know. It’s not only happening in Chrome but in Firefox too.

Not wanting to pile on, just letting you know – I’m also having the same problem. Happening maybe 80% of the time.

Same Problem Here, Chrome frezees everythime i modify a snippet.

    Yep, +1 here as well

It doesn’t always happen, but definitely the majority of the time.

@janekkrause: I tried downloading Local by Flywheel and using it to create a new site and installing Code Snippets. Everything worked as expected – I didn’t experience any issues. Can you think of what I might be doing differently to you that isn’t causing the error?

@bungeshea thats interesting, perhaps its a plugin for Chrome causing interference… I recently uninstalled my Adblocker (https://www.getadblock.com/) and im not able to replicate the problem at the moment. So I wonder if that was the problem. I cant confirm for sure since I’m on a Windows PC at the moment and where I was previously testing was on a Mac at work so wont have access to that till Monday.

Thats the only thing thats changed for me though, the fact I’m on Windows and that I’ve since removed Adblocker.

Thanks for the tip @janekkrause. I actually use mac, so I downloaded the Adblock addon you mentioned to see if I could replicate the problem on the flywheel site. Unfortunately, it is still working correctly. Can you think of anything else I might be able to try?

It’s been happening to me too, for a while, on different sites and with both Firefox and Chrome. One thing I noticed today was that if I made a “small” amount of changes there was no problem, but if I made “big” changes, it froze. For all I know, it might be a character I used or didn’t use, but it was consistent with small vs. big.

    Hello everyone,

I’ve just released version 2.13.1, which removes a bit of code which I think may have been the cause of these saving problems.

If you could try out the new version and see whether it fixes things, I would really appreciate it.
