Adding "recent posts" widget with summaries to the side bar

I’m trying to add short excerpts of my recent posts to the side bar of my wordpress website. I’m using the default twenty ten theme.

I managed to add the “recent posts” widget but that comes with only links to the posts and does not show any part of the post.

Any ideas are appreciated.
