Adding posts retrospectively

  • My WordPress has blog entries going back to 2006, and I am adding new ones all the time retrospectively.
    Someone has told me that they don’t get a note when I add a new post and I thought if you were a subscriber you got an email every time a page was added.
    Is this not the case? And if not, is it possible somehow to alert readers that I have added a retrospective post?
