Adding post text to timeline

Hi there:

I’d like to add a preview of the post text (first 100 characters?) to its corresponding timeline entry, perhaps in italics or non-bolded or somesuch. That way I can offer a brief explanation of each item without forcing the reader to click through. Is this possible?
