That said, how can anyone answer your question with the information you have provided. You dont mention a plugin, or a plugin name.
Not all plugins, regardless of whether they do essentially the same thing, are identical. Meaning that without more information, your original question made no sense, and still remains unanswerable.

If AFTER installing some sort of forum (or even other) type of plugin, you have trouble, the first place to check is the plugin author’s web site. ALL of the plugins listed within that directory should be supported by their respective authors.
If you post a question to a plugin author and dont get a timely response (remember we do have lives too) then you can always come to these forums to re-ask your question.
