adding php to a child theme

    Copy header.php from the 2011 theme and just paste it into your Child Theme directory.

    Generally, if you are wanting to make changes to the header.php file, make a copy of the existing header.php file, put the copy in the child theme and make changes there (or you can make the changes on your local computer using a text editor and then upload the revised file to your child theme.

    I get the copy paste part, but where do I paste? Directly into the 2011child stylesheet? I am having trouble figuring out how to save it into the new theme?

    nevermind. i had no idea what I was doing and was trying to do it from the dashboard. just went into my ftp manager and figured it out. thanks!

    make a copy of the existing header.php file

    A totally NEW file using a text editor. Only CSS goes in a stylesheet.
