I’m SO sorry if this is a lame question, but I’m new to this and trying to figure things out. I’m trying to add an image to one of my pages. I place my cursor where I want the image and click the Add Media button, but the media uploader interface fails to launch. Am I missing a step? In reading the documentation, it sounds like I’m doing everything right, but not having any luck. Please help!

  • It sounds like you are doing it correctly. Were you ever able to do this before?

Did you recently update WordPress, install a new theme or plugin?

Can you post a link to your site please.

Hi, sure, here’s the link to my site.

I’m new to WordPress so I’ve never added photo’s. I have some in my media library, and have only been able to add them to a Widget on my home page. Other than that, nothing.

Ooops..that was weird how that linked. Sorry.

Try switching to the twentyfourteen theme. Check your add media button again. Does it work now?

Ok, switched over and it still did not work. When I click it, nothing happens. Do you think I should try some others?

No. Try turning off ALL your plugins. Refresh your browser and try the media button again.

And keep the twentyfourteen theme active for now.

YES!!! That did it. Thanks SO MUCH! I can’t tell you the time that I put into this trying to get it to work. Should I avoid adding plugins unless I absolutely need them?

You can add plugins, but activate them one at a time and make sure everything still works before you start using it.

But as a general use, YES, only use plugins that you absolutely need. They can really slow down your site, and as you’ve seen, possibly cause conflicts with theme and/or other plugins.

And please mark this thread as active so others won’t try and help an already solved issue.

I marked it as Resolved. I don’t see an option for active.

    Thanks again for your help!
