    Hi,

I have uploaded pdfs that people are meant to pay for. I am going to put the URLs for them onto Thank You pages from PayPal (job for today!). However when I check my Google analytics stats they are being landed on so people cen get them for free. Are these ‘real’ people or are they just the bots?

How do I protect these pages so I can actually make some money. They are not showing on any menus so do I stop people who haven’t paid accessing them? Do I need a plugin or am I OK going the way I am?

This is my first site and I am a newbie so answers in words of one syllabel would be much appreciated!

    Thanks a lot. Sophie

Are your pdfs protected in any way?. If not, then a significant number will be real people as opposed to bots.

Suggestion: Have a look at the eShop plugin. It will allow you to sell the pdfs on your site via PayPal. Instead of being available via pages on your site, the plugin will send out an email to paying customers that includes a unique url for the pdf download. That should stop people accessing the files for free.

Thanks. I will certainly do this and take down my pages with the pdfs on.

    Hi,

OK I have installed eShop and have set up one product.

However I admit to finding the instructions for it very hard to find. I’m OK with the settings I think and have set the downnloads as per instructions for selling only downloadables. However I must be really thick as no-one else has asked this on the forums and I can find no instructions on how to upload my downloadables!

Thanks for the advice. I think eShop will do the business just great when this technoidiot has worked out how to use it!

You can also check out e-junkie.com I found it helpful for selling digital downloads. It has a good integration with paypal
