Adding page numbers to posts

Try adding <!--nextpage--> where you want the page break to occur.

Thanks for the code but when I insert it into a post draft and preview it I don’t get the buttons to click on the next page and the document quits where I inserted the code.

Any suggestions?

Supposedly I can add this to my site’s custom css stylesheet, would it work to make sure pagenation works?

To show page-links of paginated posts single.php and page.php of your theme must have wp_link_pages function in it’s loop right after the_content(). Check if it is in the code.
As an example, you can see the loop-page.php of TwentyTen theme.
