adding or replacing database 3.03 into 3.05 ms

    I’m installing in a fresh wp 3.05 multisite, but I would like to transfer a database of an old wp 3.03 (not ms). Basicaly, replace or add into the existing fresh ms-database.

    Can this create a conflict? Will the ms work normaly? Do I need to forget this idea and add every content again manualy?

    Why?

    If you’re keeping the database, then you just upgrade the 3.0.3 site to 3.0.5, turn it into Multisite and call it a day.

    If for some reason that’s impossible, do an Export from the 3.0.3 install and import it into 3.0.5, but you will lose all your plugin settings.

    Okey… I want to avoid the darkside as much as possible, so let me explain ??

    I’m transfering a wp 3.03 to another server, and I thaught the best way was to start from a fresh install, but turn it into ms anyways, or copy the necessary and wp basic install files into the new folder. Add the db, to it, and upgrade to ms.
    But, is this going to work?

    Else, can you please enlight me how to keep the plugins settings? and ev. the best way for this kind of operations?

    You’re making this WAY more complicated than it needs to be.

    If you’re keeping the same domain, then it’s just like any other WordPress move. You get your new server, copy over the files and database, make sure the wp-config.php is set up to point to the new database, and you’re done.

    If you’re getting a NEW domain name, I would move the 3.0.3 (and it’s NOT 3.03 – version points are important) as SINGLE SITE to the new server, then upgrade to 3.0.5, and THEN turn on MultiSite.
