Adding New Site to WP Network – Domain Problem
-
Hello all,
I will try to put this as clearly as possible and hope that I make sense – I am a little green, so please be patient.
I have an existing WP blog – let’s call it coffeemug.com.
I want to start a new/different website on the same webhost – let’s call it doctorfizz.com
Because both of them would use WP, and because it would be a waste of server space to have two WP installations I thought I would take advantage of the multi-site WP network feature. Perhaps the trouble I am having comes down to a misunderstanding of how it is to be used.
Here is my problem:
1. Convert (via instructions on WP site) current WP settings to allow multi-site.
2. Log into admin for coffeemug.com and see that the Network menu items are now there.
3. Go through steps to create new network, but when asked to add a new site (which would be doctorfizz.com), it gives me the following option:
Site address: ___________ . coffeemug.comMy question: how can I get it so that doctorfizz.com does not have the coffeemug.com subdomain? I have the domain already and it’s registered with my webhost – is the problem having to do with the subdomain/sub-directory configuration with my WP installation?
Any help appreciated.
