adding more rules

I hope I can still get in touch with you.
I have been testing with your plugins and try to make it running on my site. Most of them work really well, but I would like to update a few markups shown in the mediawiki. What I really want to do is to add the [[file:somefile.jpg|description]]. The rule is tested in some regex testing site and should be working. My problem is however, the call back. When the url and the second part of text is retrieved correctly, the output of the markup is
What I did is to copy the externallink call back to a private function called image and then change the html markup $ret. However, I guess the image call back did not function so it falls to the wiki link function.
I hope you, or anyone may give me a hint on how to add the rule and make it work. By the way, I learn a ton from reading the code.
