I have a many categories with nested sub categories. When I try and add these to the menu I run into difficulty because the select area is paginated. It seems that on page 2 of the available product categories the nesting is broken and so I can’t determine what sub categories go in which parent categories.

I know I could manually change the names, add then menu items and then change the names back but this isn’t a sustainable way to manage the menu long term.
I have tried adding some filters (in functions.php) mentioned in various posts but none worked and they are all several years old so I guess the WooCommerce code has changes quite a bit since this ‘solutions’ were written.

I have added a liken to a very quick video of the issue I have.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey there, @footstepsdesign! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

    Thanks for sharing the video.

To confirm, the video is from the customizer, correct?

The layout shown on the video is quite different then the one on my website. Are you using a page builder such as Elementor, for example? Or maybe something else that changes the customizer?

Also, the items on the second page, are they subcategories or parent categories?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for replying. No customiser, this is the basic WordPress wp-admin view with WooCommerce added. As far as I can remember the menu admin side bar has always looked like this.

I can video the whole screen of you like, I was just going for a small file to save download time.

The second page is mainly sub categories but there may be a parent category there it’s hard to tell as many categories have the same name.

    Hey, @footstepsdesign!

    Thanks for the clarification.

I was able to replicate this issue on my end.

I checked and found a report on GitHub about this. And this is actually an issue with the way WordPress core handles things, not Woo.

There’s a discussion about it here, if you are interested.

I hope this was clarifying. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful day!
