Adding media post type to Menus

I was wondering if there is a way (I’ve searched for a plugin with no success) to add the Media Post type to the menus system. Basically, I just want to make it easier for someone to link to a PDF via the Menus system by utilizing a checkbox system on the menus page rather than cutting and pasting the file URL from the Media Library entry.

Does anyone know if this is even possible? I know that everything in WordPress is basically a “post type” so I figured it would be but I’m not sure where to start.
