Adding Logo to Nav Bar (but not in menu)

Hello WordPress experts,

I’m trying to place the custom logo link floating left in the nav bar, with the menu floating right.

I have tried to dig in and find a way to do this through CSS, which I’m very comfortable with, but haven’t had any luck. I also used a plugin to add the logo to the menu, but that doesn’t allow me to separate them and have one float left and the other float right.

At any rate – I have a feeling I’ll have to mess with the actual theme files, which I have much less experience doing. I have a child theme installed, but from there, I’m not sure where to go – how can I add the custom logo link to the nav bar so that it responds well in different screen sizes and also changes when I change my logo in the “customize” area of the site? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks so much.
