So I had a website set up with OceanWP and tonight I tried adding a logo in the Woo Commerce settings. This immediately removed my top menu and resat my website including changing the dedication in the bottom back to the original saying “Copyright – OceanWP Theme by Nick”

    1) Any idea what happened here?

    2) Any solutions to reverse these changes and save all my work on the website?

    Any help much much appreciated!

Okay, so I was able to simply bring back my settings for the top menu (which had been set to no menu chosen) and again set my own footer.

It was a bit scary though to have Woo Commerce rendered by website temporarily useless from something as simple as changing the logo.

Has anyone had a similar problem and/or found a cause?

@superdep I haven’t seen something like this reported before.

Can you clarify what setting you are referring to exactly when you say you added a logo “in the WooCommerce settings”?

I can understand that it sounds surprising and I should probably have explained it more clearly.

In the Woo Commerce dashboard it has sort of a “getting started” menu which has a bullet saying “personalize your webshop”. I clicked there -> “add image” -> uploaded a .jpeg file

And after doing that it reset the settings for top menu, footer and a few other things.

    Hey @superdep

This sounds like it may be more of an issue with your theme than with WooCommerce itself (since WooCommerce doesn’t have an option “Personalize your webshop”).

Have you checked this with OceanWP’s support team yet?

    I’ve uploaded a screenshot here:
    https://ibb.co/GP3XBNX

I have it set to danish since apparently, Woo Commerce requires that for my buttons to be in Danish, but “F?rdigg?r ops?tning” to the right means “finish setup”

I have not checked with OceanWP yet, but I’ll see if I can find somewhere to contact them

    Hey @superdep

Thanks for the screenshot, that’s definitely helpful!

I don’t see “F?rdigg?r ops?tning” in your screenshot, but I’m a little unclear where things go wrong exactly.

After you select “Personalize your webshop”, does it take you to the Customizer, and is that where you’re unable to select/upload a logo?

“F?rdigg?r ops?tning” is to the right in my previous screenshot.

When I click on personalize (in danish) I get to this window:
    https://ibb.co/y817Msk

Now all I did was use this to upload a .jpg file

I have some coding experience (mostly python) and consider myself quite technically proficient overall, but this is one of the weirdest things I have ever had come up. I have spent hours trying to fix these weird little problems.

@superdep Thank you for the screenshots.

Uploading an image on that step will update the website’s logo. It seems like either the size or format of the logo you uploaded must have messed up with your theme’s setup.

To update the logo that was uploaded, you can head to Appearance > Customize > Site identity. From there you can choose to update or remove the logo entirely.

I quickly removed it when it happened and manually fixed things that were broken.

What surprised me the most was the settings such as the site’s footer was reset. I could understand if the menu at the top had moved a bit.

Anyway, at this point mostly just surprised that no one else seems to know this problem. Points to it being a one-off.

    But thanks for the help

Ah, I’m glad the issue is fixed now. Thanks for confirming.

So far I have been unable to reproduce this on a site of my own. It might have been a conflict with your theme that caused those issues with the footer, or like you said, a one off issue. If you notice it happening again, please don’t hesitate to report it.

I’m going to close this thread now since the original issue has been resolved.
