• When trying to add an image to WordPress, I get the following error:

“top_banner.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
Unable to create directory D:\vhosts\getfact.co.nz\httpdocs\wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    I have changed this field:
“Store uploads in this folder” to read “wp-content/uploads” but this has not solved my problem.

-make sure images are not blocked by hotlink protection, contact your webserver.

    – double check path in Admin => Settings => Media

    – make sure wp-content/upload folder is writable (try 766, 767, or 777 permission).

    Hi t-p

I am having similar issues but admit to total ignorance. Can you tell me where I find the wp-content/upload folder to change the permission? I have disabled plug-ins, changed the theme (and changed it back) but have yet to downgrade to the previous version of WP. That’s my last resort. Thanks!!

    wp-content/upload folder

Use a FTP program like Filezilla to change permissions. Find the directory, and right-click for “file attributes”.
