    Hi Support,

A while ago, I added monster analytics (free version) and connected it to my google analytics account, which only had the old google analytics type code.

Today, I created the new google analytics 4 (GA 4) property on google analytics.

My question is, do I need to do anything at my monster analytics plugin? Or is the GA 4 property automatically linked now to monster analytics plugin?

    Thank you!

    Hi @rustykins,

As you’ve already made your GA4 property, to get tracking your within MonsterInsights, the only thing you’ll need to do is run through the set up wizard one more time. During that, select your new GA4 property, rather than your old UA one.

Once you have done that, you should be good to go! You can find more information and the steps for that below:

    https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/how-to-set-up-dual-tracking/

Do note: your MonsterInsights reports may appear blank if you’ve not been tracking to that property previously. It can also take 24-48 hours for new GA4 properties to start showing data within both MonsterInsights and Google Analytics reports. No data is lost, there is just an initial processing delay on new properties.

If you have any questions, let us know!

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi Tim,

Before your reply, I went to the settings tab of the plugin, and saw the Dual Tracking Profile field, and added my number in there (without redoing the wizard).

This should achieve the same effect?

    Hi @rustykins,

While we do recommend that you set the GA4 property as primary, if you prefer to have the UA property be primary for now and dual track to your GA4 you can do that till the sunset of UA on July 1st.

Just make sure that you have set the measurement protocol secret within the MonsterInsights settings. The link below goes through what is needed to set that. This step is only needed if you are dual tracking with GA4 set as secondary and not primary (we create this for you if GA4 is primary).

    https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/how-to-create-your-measurement-protocol-api-secret-in-ga4/

Let me know if you have any more questions!

    Thanks,
    Tim
