  • Hi Cindy,

I had the same issue, I found that two plugins on my site affected the next gen gallery. See instructions the next gen gallery sent via email with regards to my problem and my response below:

    Problem:
I have uploaded gallery plus into my website as per instructions today.
When I try to update my gallery it doesn’t work, when I try to ‘Insert Gallery Window vs. Dashboard Interface’, my website doesn’t display the green gallery icon.
I then click ‘add media’ and select next gen gallery however it still doesn’t give me the option to select the type of gallery I want displayed etc.
I have uploaded the file into the light box as per instructions however cannot seem to alter the way my current gallery is displayed on my website.
My website is https://www.discoveryfishing.com.au and if you click on the ‘gallery’ tab you will see how it is currently displayed.
I would like it to display the ‘film strip’, please help me, I have been reading forums and instructions all day and am now finding this frustrating.

    Result:
I followed your instructions and cleared my browser cache, I then de-activated all the plugins and re-activated Next Gen Gallery as well as plus.
At this point, the gallery window icon displayed itself. I was then able to update our gallery to meet the requirements set with gallery plus as per instructions.
As I slowly re-activated the plugins, checking if the problem returns, I noticed the ‘CK Editor for Word press’ was the plugin that stopped the gallery window icon from displaying.
Slowly I continued to re-activate the rest of the plugins, I checked to see if there were any further issues. I noticed that as I activated ‘Google Rick Snippets –Reviews’, the manage galleries, manage albums and manage tags options within gallery also stopped working.
Instead it displayed 414 request as follows:
    Request-URI Too Large
The requested URL’s length exceeds the capacity limit for this server.

    ——————————————————————————–

Apache Server at rsj27.rhostjh.com Port 80

These are all the previous issues I faced.
Do you have any recommendations/ ideas to fix these issues?

    Final reply:
this is very helpful for us to know. thank you for the follow-up. Unfortunately we cannot provide support for the third-party plugin, however we can take brief look at the plugin compatibility error, if there is anything we can do from our end to help them work better together, we’ll include a fix in one of our next updates. We encourage you to contact the developer for the plugin to have them take a look at the plugin conflict as well.

    Hope this helps Cindy!

    Sorry Cindy,

I titled the paragraphs totally wrong, the first three are from me to next gen gallery and the final is from them.

Here is the email with instructions they told me to fix the problem:

Sorry to hear about the Insert Gallery Window icon not showing up. There could be a plugin conflict going on here or at least it should be ruled out. Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins, clearing your browser cache (and site caches if you are using a caching plugin), then reactivating the NextGEN plugin? If this fixes the problem then it was likely one of the deactivated plugins that was causing an issue. Now, retrace your steps activating each plugin and re-checking to see if the problem returns. If it does then that last activated plugin was probably the one. Keep reactivating and in most cases it is also best to keep checking after each plugin, sometimes there may be more than one plugin on a site that will create an issue. If you do find one (or more) plugins causing this problem we would greatly appreciate your feedback on them so the developers may address them as soon as they can.

Also to note, in rare cases it may be the theme itself that is causing a conflict so while you have just the NextGEN plugin activated you might consider temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress Twenty series themes and see if this corrects the issue as well. You might also try resetting your site permalinks to ‘post name’ under Settings >> Permalinks in case it may be a permalinks issue.

If the problem still persists after all of this we would still want to know, even more so, as we will still want to sort out the issue and may need additional details.
