Adding for Brief Summarys?

I’m sure this has been asked before; however I wasn’t able find anything specific to Postie.
Is there a way to set a tag to allow only a few sentences of info is displayed and then add a “read more” tag?
I’m thinking something along the lines of a setting that says after 300 characters, add a comment tag of <!–more–>.
Anything after that isn’t displayed on the first page of the post.
