• Is it possible to add some content to the Cubic footer, such as a search box, list of pages, maybe some banner ads? I see how to add items to the social media menu, but these show up in the footer as little icons that you have to click on to get to the actual item. It would be nice if the footer could display items more like a typical footer widget in a WordPress blog.

I realize this may require extensive customization to the footer.php code, which may not be a good idea if the theme ever gets updated. I’m wondering if there might be a footer plugin that would do what I’m looking for.

Hi there, sadly yes, adding or changing the footer.php on Cubic would mean it could get overwritten by an update, and of course we can’t at this time make a child theme of a child.

What you could do would be to create your own copy of Cubic and rename it in the style.css file. That way you would still benefit from any security or bug fixes to the parent (Boardwalk). Of course any updates to Cubic, you would not get.
