Hello, I have already contacted you on this issue but have not received a reply, attempt number 2. So, I have an external drive connected to my site that stores files, when I add a link to that file to the gallery, the plugin automatically downloads that file, which negates the whole idea of using an external drive. In addition, even if you add a link to a file that is already in the media library, the plugin will create a clone of the file. So if for example 10 different people will add link to the same file in their galleries, I will get 10 clones of one file. Is there anything you can do about it? Is there any way to disallow uploading the file and serving it via a link?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,
I am sorry for missing your mails.
You can configure MediaPress to link to external media directly.
    1. Please visit Dashboard->MediaPress->Settings
    2. Scroll to the bottom for the “Media Add/Upload Settings” section
    3. Please set the following options

    a. Enable adding media through link? to Yes

    b. Enable adding direct link to files from other sites? to Yes

    c. Download the file to your server? “No”

The last option determines if the file should be linked directly or be downloaded.
    Hope that helps.

Hello, I’ve applied these settings, applied them again to be sure, but in this case the files added via a link are not displayed in the playlist. When you press edit, they are there. When you click on view, there’s nothing. Empty.

I guess I won’t be getting an answer again. In the meantime, it’s a pretty serious problem.

    Hi,
I am sorry for not offering the assistance soon.

Can you please provide me with a sample url (actual) that you are trying to add.
That might give us some idea.
    Thank you

Here are examples of links to add. Most likely you won’t be able to open them, because only one domain is allowed – i-aria.fun The links are added to the wordpress library and played individually. But they are not displayed in the playlist in any way

    Hi,
Please try using bare url in the link e.g
    https://aria1978.b-cdn.net/Jamin%20Winans%20-%20Ink%20(The%20Complete%20Soundtrack)%20%5B2009%5D/03.%20Ink%20and%20The%20Storytellers.mp3
If you have already done this and it is not working in the player, please try the following 2:-

    1. Try adding a file which does not have space in its path.
    2. Or try adding a file which does not have the viewing restrictions

Please let me know if any of the above 3 works?

    Thank you

I tried to add links differently and even from other sources. The result is the same. The list of songs in the playlist is not displayed.
Here are some links from another source, these links are public –

    https://pub-aa5a460f11124505a8791d9a5046345c.r2.dev/Pink Floyd – Relics (1996 Remastered Version) (1996)/03. See Emily Play (1996 Remastered Version).flac

    https://pub-aa5a460f11124505a8791d9a5046345c.r2.dev/Led Zeppelin – Houses Of The Holy (1973) 2014/06 – D’yer Mak’er.flac

https://pub-aa5a460f11124505a8791d9a5046345c.r2.dev/VA – Led Zeppelin In Jazz (Tribute To Led Zeppelin) 2021/10. No Quarter.flac

Try adding them to your playlist and you’ll see for yourself.

    Hi,
I am sorry, your links are giving 404 and are not accessible to me.

I believe the issue could be related to link giving 404 or the .flac file not being playable by MediElement js over web(not sure).
Please link me to a downloadable file and we are hopeful to find the reason/solution and get back to you within 2 working days.

    Thank you

When in the plugin settings I enable downloading files by link, everything is fine, everything is displayed –

When I disable uploading files to the server, this is what happens –

    Hi,

    Thank you for your patience.

You were right about the issue with remote media playlist. We have been able to replicate it. The playlist shortcode is unable to find the list of files that is part of gallery.

The problem happens because we do not store mime type for the remote file in WordPress posts table.
We will push an update to fix it within 7 days. We will most probably do it earlier but the timeline is to avoid any further miscommunication.

    Thank you.
