Adding FB and Twitter links

  • I am new at this and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to link my FB and Twitter pages to my site? Also I was wondering how to let users register so they get updates when I create a new post? The address is livecleaneatgreen.com. Would appreciate any help!

  • You already have Twitter & Facebook links but they go to someone else’s accounts (looks like the theme developer, maybe). Check your theme’s header.php file, look for the links, and edit them.

    To get updates, people can subscribe to your RSS feed. You already have a link for that too – it’s the icon next to Facebook.

    Can you tell me how to edit them?

    Find the existing links in the code:

    https://twitter.com/#!/itx_ (Twitter)
    https://www.facebook.com/BombaxTheme (Facebook)

    …and replace them with your account URLs.

    As I mentioned earlier, they are likely your theme’s header.php file.

    Right, I got that part but I do not know where to go to find that and change it or what a header.php file is. So if you can point me in the right direction (ie- go to dashboard, click on **** and change header.php file)

    Open the file header.php with a file editing tool. Notepad. Smething VERY simple.

    Find the calls to facebook. Edit them to be YOUR links.

    Do you know how to copy your theme files to your desktop so you can edit them?

    No, I’m sorry. I don’t know what a file header is so I am afraid I am not going to be able to sort this one out myself. I don’t know where to go to find it before I even try to figure out how to edit it. I have tried to google what you guys are telling me but I have never done anything like this before.

    What you need to do is what we call “editing your theme.”

    At it’s most basic, you will be editing a file named header.php (similar to … say editing resume.doc ?? )
