Adding custom posts in the sidebar

Hi,

I’m starting to build a wordpress theme from scratch and I have some questions to ask. Is there a code or plugin that will add a custom post in the sidebar with an image of the author and title of the articles.

Ex.
I have 10 articles in my blog and I want to show only 3 of my articles in the sidebar with an image of an authors and titles.

Hope it make sense.
