Adding content to sidebar in twenty fourteen theme

I haven’t posted anything in my content sidebar in months and I can’t seem to recall how to do it.
I currently have 2 videos that were inserted via text widgets in the content sidebar and I pasted youtube embed codes.
But I keep trying that to add new videos below and they don’t show up.
Can anyone tell me what I might be missing?
I also tried using the smart youtube plugin but that didn’t work either.
