Adding content to Dashboard in 2.7

  • I am using WP 2.7 for a site that has multiple contributers, with me being Admin. I would like to add content to the dashboard, but do not see any current plug-ins for this. The dashboard editor plugin is discontinued. I don’t mind digging into the code if someone can tell me where I should go and what code to replicate & edit.

    I basically would like to create an Internal Announcements box, that has the same styling as the other widgets on the Dashboard, so I can say “Hey I still need your first blog post” or “Don’t forget the Friday night Admin meeting” etc.

    Any suggestions?

    I have the feeling either no one knows…Well I am going into dashboard.php and taking note of all the code to produce the current widgets, for example the “Right Now” box. Gonna study it and then replicate and edit with the new pieces I need. Thanks anyway.
