Adding changeable floating images on homepage on scrolling blogroll

Hi,

I’m putting together an art project webiste with uploaded images and attachements.

I;d like to create two columns on the homepage with two seperate floating images that are zoomable. With a scrolling blogroll of images underneath it so you can compare each top floating image w/ the scrolling images below.

Think https://www.postsecret.com, but two top images that float under the header.

Any advice how? I’ve looked at WP float but that’s a more permanent approach.
