Is it possible to not show every page in the menu item on the left? For example, if I am making a new page daily with a new picture on it, it can lead to one very long menu item on the left. Even making monthly pages with the daily photos on it can add up over the years. Is there a way to shorten this in WP? How does archiving work in WP?
    Thanks.

  • Why do you use pages instead of posts?
If you want to exclude pages from the menu, see this:

As for the primary question: a post gets an ID from WP, you can do with posts a lot of thing, show them on the main page or not or access them through various ways of archiving, by date, by category, by tag, etc.

My guess is that you have a page widget in your sidebar just like the fellow in the other thread that I just linked to. You don’t have to use it.

Problem with posts is that they cannot be nested like pages can.

The Exclude Pages plugin excludes pages from side bar menu and top menu?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Is it possible to activate or do this in some way. I want my category archives to show all my posts, but like in pages? Like page 1 is recent stuff and page 44 is like stuff from 5 years ago?

If you can help me I’d appreciate it.
