Hello, I’m selling a digital product on my website and I use woocommerce. I want to have a feature for my site that will give each user an own file or download link after purchase.

For example, I have here a 2 downloadable files, each file has a different content inside. Two customers would bought the product at the same time, I want to separately give each file to each user. For example, 1st file is only for the first customer and the 2nd file is also only for the second customer. Each file will be unrestricted on other customers or will expired after downloading so that the other customer cannot access it as it already been used or given to other users without any complications or errors.

I’m sorry if you find it hard to understand but that the feature that I want. I want to know if is there any plugin (paid or free) or a code for that in order to work.

Thank you so much and have a great day!

  • Hi @leiikun

Just to clarify it a bit more, are you creating those files dynamically for each user?

I am asking this because you can also set the download limit (but you’ll need to add it again manually when it’s sold), or you can also consider using a plugin that does it (and other things), like this one.

Let us know how it goes! My very best,

    Thank you for your reply!

And yes, I’m the one who will create those files, put them together at the same time and wait until those files will get sold. What I only want to do is to put the files together and just wait.

And about your suggestion, it’s kinda hard for me since what if two customers will bought the product at the same time? They would probably use the same file that can be only use once and so the other one cannot use it anymore.

I’ll try to check and test your plugin suggestions too. Thank you so much and I’ll keep you update! ^^

So if I use the plugin or not, possible that the customer will receive two links from the email receipt. That would be hard for the customers and will get confuse what link should they use.

Thanks, I’ll try to look more on the internet!

    Hello,

If you want to learn more about downloadable product configuration, please be sure to check our documentation (I understand this is not exactly what you would like to do, but it is an option. You can set up a unique string after the file name, for example):

To clarify, are you talking about the same product for both users? You can elaborate on this a bit more so that we can assist you better.

    Let us know, thank you!

Hi, thank you for having your time!

I checked the link but seems like I didn’t find anything that could help me with it pero yes I will still dig on it.

To clarify, are you talking about the same product for both users? You can elaborate on this a bit more so that we can assist you better.

Yes, same product, both files are having the same name but have different content.

Example, first file is for the ‘A customer’ that has a ‘hello world’ text inside.
Second file is for the ‘B customer’ that has a ‘goodbye world’ text inside.

I want the first file to only give to A customer and the second file to B customer without showing two links together at the same time or in both customers email or order tab. I only want to show the first link-file and make it downloadable to A customer only, like that. And Automatically!

Hope you will understand, thank you so much!

    Hi @leiikun

    Thanks for the update.

Yes, same product, both files are having the same name but have different content.

Having two different files with the same name and involved in similar situations is bound to give rise to problems. We strongly recommend changing one of the file’s name, and check whether the issue persists.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks

Okay sure thanks for the tip but the problem is how I could I give the two different files with different content to each users? Base on what I said, same product but will give each user who bought it a different file content, automatically!

    Thank you!

    Hi @leiikun

same product but will give each user who bought it a different file content, automatically!

I see! Just to confirm – you mean to say that the content in the file is not fixed but gets generated dynamically instead?

Kindly share a copy of your site’s System Status in order for us to check your site configuration and assist you further. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

We’ll look forward to hearing from you.

    Cheers

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m marking this thread as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
