Adding Adsense above the blog

I am new to this, this is my first post on the forum- I am confused about adding adsense to my blog- I am using the blog as a homepage for a database of articles in an attempt to generate adsense revenue, but I want the ads to appear above the blog entries. I am confused about the plugin adsense deluxe- I couldn’t get it to work. Please help!
