Any chance that you could add flexibility in creating additional custom fields? Either to tap into something like Types, or just additional custom meta-descriptions?

    I have a desire to handle (and display) a bunch of podcast segments, so custom fields like <airdate>, <guest>, <segment title>, <segment type>, <show name>, etc.

This plugin looks very clean and tidy.

    Thanks!

Are you talking about for use with [fileaway] or [attachaway]?

For [fileaway] that is something I can do, but I won’t be able to get to it for a while; swamped at the moment with work. Thanks for the request. I’ll post back here if I’m able to find time to get it done.

Yeah – noticed you were pretty busy. Good luck – busy is good, right?

Busy is good-ish. On my way to pick up my daughter from school today I was thinking about your request and I worked out how to do it. Now I just have to find the time. Hopefully will be shortly!

This is now done and uploaded. Please download version 1.4.

You can now add an unlimited number of Custom Columns to your File Away tables, using the same method as before. In the shortcode, using the customdata attribute, separate multiple column headings by semi-colon. Then in your file names, inside the square brackets, separate the corresponding data sets by semi-colon.

    Example Shortcode:
    [fileaway type=table customdata=”Artist*; Album; Label; Year” sortfirst=”custom”]
The asterisk next to “Artist” indicates that sortfirst=”custom” should apply to the “Artist” column.

    Example Filenames:
My Funny Valentine [Chet Baker; My Funny Valentine; Blue Note; 1994].mp3
So What [Miles Davis; Kind of Blue; Columbia; 1959].mp3
Birdland [Weather Report; Heavy Weather; Columbia; 1977].mp3

Argh. Just found out that Safari truncates filenames on download after any semi-colon, and there’s no fix for it. So I’ve had to change the whole system to separate customdata columns by comma, instead, which I had wanted to avoid, but so be it. This is will be something that is effective in the next release. Anyone using semi-colons will have to make the change. Fortunately, File Away will come with renaming functionality. ??
