Currently my wp-blog is down. https://debtprison.net/wordpress
My host offered a much better control panel and much extra space at no charge. All good so far. After they made the switch to the new control panel wp would not respond. In the config.php file the sql database is set to wp_debtprison_net, the problem is that in my list of sql databases, that one doesn’t exist. It seems my host failed to transfer over the old database to new server. I backed up all wp files just prior to switch using the backup function on wp dashboard and dloaded it to my email. I can create a new sql database but name will be different. I can then change the database name in config.php. My host has been unresponsive in helping. Is there a way to put the backup into the new database that I can create (it will be empty at creation). Or does any of this matter? Keep in mind that all of this is new to me. Thanks in advance for any help!!

  • You can import a backup .sql file through phpAdmin for sure after creating a database. “Or does any of this matter?” I don’t know. I would wait for your hosting company support rep to get back to you.

I created the database, changed the sql database name in the config.php file, uploaded the backup files, and all is good. Only thing not up to date are changes I made in the last week.
