Adding a Who's Online for Post Authors

  • I have looked all around the forum and have installed different plugins to get this fucntionality, but nothing has worked just yet.

    I am wondering if there is anyway to show a message next to an authors post or page that shows them as “ONLINE” on the home page. Most of the plugins work with the Admin side of WordPress. I am looking for a way to show this as a social thing. So is there a way to show a member online next to their post if they are logged in as a author or contributor, and then offline if they are not logged on?

    So does this forum actually even help or suggest things to people anymore??? It seems like nothing but unanswered questions around here. Pretty sad for WordPress. Geez, what happened to the support?

    I don’t know if this plugin still works with newer versions of WordPress or not, but it says it shows whether an author is online or not, as long as your theme supports that.

    Even if the plugin doesn’t work anymore, it might be a good place for you to look to see if you can pick up some tips on writing it yourself.

    Hi Curtiss. Thanks for the reply :). I have actually looked into that plugin and even contacted the developer of it, but have not heard back from him. Surprise surprise, LOL!

    I even already installed it a while ago, but I can’t seem to get it to work. Also, I am not much of a programmer at all. I can just get by if someone shows me the code and stuff like that, but other than that, I am still new to PHP. ??

    Has anyone used that plugin to display Author posts with their gravatar and been able to show the author online on the homepage and not just on the sidebar?
