Adding a site but the domain is incorrect

Out of curiosity…which admin are you ‘adding the site’ from- the SuperAdmin or Network Admin?

NO, lets go back… to help you out I wanna understand where you error is coming from, though I cant reproduce it myself. But, I have another, possibly related error to fix.

In your case, your have a sub-domain Multi-network, and you are within the subnetwork wp-admin ‘MY SITES’ window, correct? Should be like https://subnet1.example.com/wp-admin/network/sites.php

I assume your logged in as Super Admin, not Network Admin, right? And presumably you are also a member of the subnetwork whee the site is being added. So you would include your SuperAdmin email…

Then you click on ADD NEW,
You type in the new URL as newsite.subnet1.example.com
then when you click add the site, it returns: “Site added. View the Dshboard. Edit the Site.”

Then what happens? Be more specific.
Are you saying the URL comes out as:
newsite.example.com?

When you return to https://subnet1.example.com/wp-admin/network/sites.php
is the new site listed there, or only listed in the main network?

And what is your wp-config like?

As I’ve said, I’m not sure what the difference between network and super admin is. Please could clarify?

I have a subdomain network set up so I don’t type the entire URL, only the subdomain. But the prefixed TLD is wrong. Once I’ve been through this process, what happens is that the URL is the first networks TLD with the suffix of the site subdomain.

So instead of https://anothernetworktld.com/newsite/

it’s https://firsttld.com/newsite/

What do you specifically want to know about in my wp-config file?

In a subdomain MS, why is it you think adding a new subnetwork site should produce a URL of subnetwork1.com/newsite, instead of newsite.subnetwork1.example.com or subnetwork1.example.com/newsite?

In the ‘add new site‘ window, are you adding your new site’s name directly to the subnetwork URL ________.subnet1.example.com, as I mentioned before, or does the window show you a modified URL to add onto?
Have you applied some form of domain mapping?
Have you changed define(‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, true); to false within wp-config, and hence, the reason I asked for your config.
You never really detailed what all your steps looked like. Is your process the same as I described earlier?

Because what the outcome sounds like is that you are adding new networks, not new sites, but in directories instead of subdomains.

Am I close here?

No. That is ahead of where I am experiencing the issue.

To clarify, it isn’t a subdomain multisite. It’s a subfolder multisite. That’s why I expect it to be suffixed /newsite. This point seems pretty key to some of your points so in that respect we’re currently not on the same page.

Steps to recreate are simple.

1. Create new network.
2. Create sub site of new network.
3. Subsite URL is not correct.
