Adding a page that behaves differently

I would like to add a page that will act as my blog. I do not want it to follow the portfolio styling of thumbnails linking to a dedicated page like the rest of the site. Is it possible to have a blog page and add it as a menu item?

So main nav would say Design, Illustration, Blog. Design and Illustration look like the theme and Blog is a blog style page.
