lol one issue. can i make the postings spply to my main page instead of my sidebar?

You would need to create a widget-ready area within your theme’s index.php template file to house the RSS widget.

Is there a how to on this? or should i dive right into the code?

See the link I gave above. The approach is exactly the same whether you are widgetizing a sidebar or your main posts template (index.php).
