    Hi all –

I’m attempting to change my theme from Black-Letterhead to something with a Magazine layout and responsive design. I’m getting completely overwhelmed with the options and just need something clean, easy to use, and with the ability to customize colors, have a custom header. have sidebar widgets, etc.

I wanted to use Apostrophe (https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/apostrophe/) but am now seeing this is a WordPress.com theme. I understand the differences between .com and .org (obviously), but are the themes not interchangeable? I thought all WordPress themes were made equally but I cannot figure out how to download it or add it into my theme bank. If this is a stupid question, please excuse.

If I can’t download Apostrophe, does anyone have any suggestions for themes that might be more what I’m looking for. Right now, the Black-Letterhead just isn’t cutting it – it’s super old school, runs too long, looks too texty on the home page…any suggestions on themes or how to narrow down my search? In desperate need of change.

A link to my site, just in case: https://thelittlestwinslow.com/

    Thanks all!

::Small edit:: Not opposed to paying for a theme, but I’ve been warned about the dangers of 3rd party themes…would prefer to stick to WordPress ones, but open to options, if safe!

  • We can download themes from wp.COM directly via its svn, or create a wp.com account if not already yet and login then you will be able to download the theme. The problem is that people who do this must know how to update the theme manually, with some basic knowledges regarding the updates, because you just can update theme without reading the changelog or manually comparing the files, or the diff via svn if using one.

Themes hosted here at wp.ORG that look like Apostrophe might be Semicolon and Expound, both by Konstantin Kovshenin

Lots of .com themes also are available in .org, so there might be a chance that Apostrophe would be availalble in .org too.

Thanks for your response, paulwpxp! I will check out some of the suggested themes and maybe look into downloading Apostrophe as well.
