Adding a New Page

PLEASE HELP ME!

I am on the Sela theme, and it came with a “home” page. I am trying desperately to add several other pages, so I can beginning writing, but I am having no luck. On the preview page it shows the example having multiple pages and says I should be able to add them.

Sometimes when I try to add one nothing shows up at all or it shows up below the bar as one of those permanent/constant posts on the main page. But I am trying to create it as a tab for a new page.

Please, please someone share their expertise! This is driving me crazy.
