• Hello — lovely plugin, but I’m having some issues, probably due to not knowing how to use all features properly.

We would like to feature a full-width image at the top of pages (not in the header).

In order to achieve this effect, we wound up adding the image as a background image within a row, it seemed to be the only way we could achieve a full-width image.

In order for the row to be tall enough to display the image, we had to enter several “spaces” to expand the row — is that the correct thing to do?

And our main concern – when one resizes the screen this image then shifts and resizes much more than we’d like it to.

Is there a better way of doing this?

    Here’s one of the pages:

You can that by resizing your browser window, sometimes way too much of the image is lost.

    Hope this makes sense!

    Also —

We thought perhaps, rather than entering all the “spaces” in order to expand the row so that one can SEE the background image, we left those out, and then within the “layout” area we would add a value in “empty row height” — but this field is always grayed out and we cannot enter any value — even though the row has no content, just a background image.

Me again — sorry — we figured out how to enter a value in the “empty row” field.

However, we still have the issue where if one expands the size of the browser, one sees less and less of the image in the row – as if one is zooming into the image. Is there any way around this?

The concern is that on a BIG monitor, those viewers would not see the image as we intended, most of the boat would be chopped off.

Same effect on this page — the wider you make your browser window — the LESS and less of the image you can see — is there a way around this in the Pootle Page Builder?

Are there some general instructions for using Pootle Page Builder anywhere?

    Hi,

We’re putting some detailed documentation together in the next couple of weeks ??

Re your issue: the background image by default is set to cover – this is so it will fit regardless of the device it is being viewed on. But we’ll have more explanations once the documentation is complete.

    Hope that makes sense,

    Jamie

    Hello again, Jamie —

Is there some setting we are missing — we still have this issue where the background image within a row will change appearance depending on how big and WIDE one’s browser window is — and the BIGGER and WIDER the browser window, the less and less of the image one sees. Is there something we should have done so that no matter what size browser window, the appearance of the image stays consistent?

Please try any of these pages below done with Pootle Page Builder. They each consist of two rows. the top row contains a background image with no other content. The bottom row contains whatever text is on the page. If you make your browser window as wide as you can, you’ll see that more and more and more of the image gets cut off.

Is it possible to achieve consistent appearance of the photo at all browser window sizes?

Try any of these – thank you!

Do the images need to be a specific size in order to work properly for the full width background image?

    Thank you —

Can anyone offer some suggestions? Is this simply how the page will behave or did we do something incorrectly? Please try any page in the links above and stretch out your browser – you’ll see that the big image at top gets cropped off.

Our concern is that if someone happens to be viewing the site on a BIG 27″ monitor, they might very well see a very peculiar image with most of it cropped off and appearing to “zoom in” to one part of the photo.

Please — any guidance from anyone out there in WordPress world?

As we’ve got it setup — the top images on any page don’t look right at all if the window is stretched wide – which would likely be the case if someone views the website on a big monitor.

Or question — is there a fix for this?
Or, is this the way it works? If this is the way it works, that’s OK, but knowing that, we will do away with using the Page Builder for this site.

    Please, please someone reply!

And thank you. I realize you’re all very, very busy.

    Hi,

Apologies for the delay in replying – I’ve just replied to your support ticket over on pootlepress.com ??

    Many thanks,
    Jamie

G’day…hope someone can help or at least direct me to where I can fix the issue

I am having an issue with the “empty row height” in pootle page builder. once I have set the height(300px)for the row it’s good but when i begin styling the columns, the height disappears from the settings(greys out) and I am left with no height. what am I doing wrong?

    thanks in advance

    Hi Steevn,

Thats actually how rows are designed to work at the moment. We do this so that text always fits within a background row when content is viewed on mobile devices.

For example, if we didnt do this, if a row is fixed at 200 px height and has text in it – when a user views that row on a mobile device if the row is fixed the text will flex and will often fall below the row.

    Hope that makes sense,

    Jamie

    Good Morning Jamie,

    Thanks for your reply. :o)

Yes, it does make sense and/or maybe you could create the option to do either. (just a thought)

Anyway, what I need to do is fix the height in my columns. Do you have any suggestions?

Here’s the site I am having the issues with

    http:nataliehamel.com

Also I am using iframes in two of the columns and can’t seem to get rid of the horizontal scroll bar (in explorer). I’ve tried numerous snippets of css to no avail. Any suggestions?

BTW luv your plugin. I can see myself using it on other projects :o)

    Cheers

    Hi Steeven

We have a big update coming out in the next week that will allow you to set a minimum height for your columns ??

    I hope that will help,

    Jamie
